Base Camp The Hikes Summary Peak List Other Links

- This website was designed to give you the
opportunity to experience some of the views and sights that I have witnessed while hiking
primarily in Idaho and Colorado. Hopefully you will enjoy browsing through
some of the photos, statistics, and descriptions of trips that I have posted.
- I am essentially a fair weather day hiker with only the occasional
backpacking trip. Most of the hikes I have done can be
completed in a day. If you are looking
for technical rock or ice climbing, you are in the wrong place. I will
say that my hiking has definitely evolved over the years. I started
out with short hikes to lakes and low peaks. At the end 2002, my focus
shifted to peak bagging. I'm still peak bagging, but in addition to
trail hiking and scrambling, I have now added some snow climbs and winter
hikes to my resume.
- My main guide for the hikes in North Idaho was a book by
Rich Landers called "100 Hikes in the
Inland Northwest". This book contains driving and hiking directions for
trails mainly in
the panhandle of Idaho. The principal guide book used for southern and
eastern Idaho was "Idaho: A Climbing Guide" by Tom Lopez. I
am now utilizing Gerry Roach's books titled "Colorado's Fourteeners"
and "Colorado's Thirteeners".
- This web is by no means an all
inclusive guide for
locating any of these trails. It is more of a personal journal that
organizes the hikes in chronological order rather than by location, region,
or difficulty. I give vague directions with intentions of
offering only a general overview. However, specific statistics regarding
mileage and elevation gain are available along with many maps.
- I'll be the first to admit that
my photos don't always do justice to
the areas that I have been to. In addition, by not having to do the
work to get to these locations, it may be even more difficult to fully
appreciate them. I'm just warning you that
most of my photos aren't exactly Ansel Adams
material.
