- Miles Hiked: 9.0
- Elevation Gain: 2,010'

- Description:
- If part of my birthday present was the
opportunity to go hiking, then my wife would say that it is my birthday
almost every weekend. Payton and I took off early up the Pack River Road
north of Sandpoint (ID) and hit the trail for Bee Hive Lakes.
- To tell you the truth, I didn't even
see the first two smaller lakes, but we did reach the last one after a strenuous
hike. The trail
had sections of several sharp switchbacks that helped with elevation gain, but
obviously increased the distance. As you neared the upper lake, cairns and
arrows helped us navigate through the rock slabs that surrounded the lake. Overall, I felt as though this was a
healthy day hike and well worth it. The upper Bee Hive Lake was also
enclosed in a bowl and a few other hikers were fishing for cut throat trout.
