- Date Hiked: June 26, 1999
- Miles Hiked: 6.0
- Elevation Gain: 1,720'
- Hiking Partner(s): Doug Kimball, Payton
- Description:
- Doug and I weren't quite as fortunate
as I had been on the previous weekend, but we still had an exceptionally good time backpacking through the
woods. After reviewing topographic maps that we purchased in Bonners Ferry
on the way home, we determined that we were just short of the lakes by less than a
mile.
- Two Mouth Lakes are located west
of Bonners Ferry with access to the trailhead via Myrtle Creek Road. It
was a beautiful morning, and we even had a moose cross our path on the
drive up. The trail started on an old skid road, and we didn't run into
snow until we were approximately 1 mile up the path. Then for the next
mile it was hit and miss on the trail with route finding becoming much more
difficult. After a while, we simply tried to follow the tracks of an
individual who we hoped had the same destination as us.
- As I said earlier, we got to within a
mile of the actual lakes when we decided to have some lunch and return
back. Doug and I also got to do a fair share of boot skiing on the way
back, and we even saw a cinnamon black bear on the drive home.
- Maps:
- Doug and I were almost to the
lakes when we decided to call it a day. The 3D map faces
southwest.

- Photographs:
- It was a somewhat cloudy day, so most
of the photos I took are not worth posting. I am fairly certain that this
is Harrison Peak from the opposite side of the Harrison
Lake (South Rt.) trail.
- Regardless of the weather and not quite
reaching our destination, you can tell that Doug and I
still enjoyed our hike and lunch.
