- Miles Hiked: 2.0
- Elevation Gain: Not Applicable
- Hiking Partner(s): Becky
& Taylor Just, Payton
- Description:
- This would best be described as
a leisurely Sunday stroll rather than a hike. but I was anxious to get
something in the books for 2000, so here you go. Round Lake State
Park is located approximately 15 miles south of Sandpoint (ID) just off
of Highway 95. It is a highly used lake in both the summer and
winter time. FYI, no motorized boats allowed.
- Becky, Taylor, Payton, and
myself had to take advantage of the great weather we had been having as
of late, so we decided to tromp around Round Lake. There is still
a lot of snow at higher elevations, so our options are still limited this time of the year.
- The trail simply skirts around
the outside of the lake with no elevation gain. There are a couple
of locations where one could stop and have a picnic, enjoy the views, or
throw a line in the water. There is also a small footbridge to
cross on the west side of the lake where a stream outlets.

- Photographs:
- Here is a shot of Taylor
as we arrived at Round Lake. It didn't take long for her to wake
up and start kicking me in the back as soon as we hit the trail.
- I thought this photo turned out
exceptionally well. It is a picture of Round
Lake facing the east towards Gold Mountain.
- Becky, Taylor, and
Payton were copping a squat on the south side of the lake here.
- We finally made it back to the trailhead. This is Becky and Taylor on the
beach.
