- Description:
- Bill and Vicki decided that they
wanted to get out into the Selkirks one more time before Becky and I
headed south, so I thought that Roman Nose Lakes would be perfect.
The trailhead is located northwest of Sandpoint, ID past Snow Creek
Falls and the Bottleneck Lake Trailhead. It was about an hour
drive from Sandpoint to the first lake where the trail begins.
- Although it was a bit overcast,
we left it up to Vicki to decide whether or not to forge on, and she
didn't disappoint us as she enthusiastically commanded "forward
march". The trail begins with a few switchbacks to get you
above the first lake for some nice views. After this, you climb some
more and come to a look out point which was excellent for photos and a
quick breather. From here, the trail either drops off to the right
to the next lake, or levels off to the left to the final lake.
- We decided to just head back to
the final lake where we were able to see Roman Nose Mountain and take a
few more photos. I think that both Bill and Vicki enjoyed
themselves and got a chance to experience northern Idaho one last
time. Taylor did really well too and even walked a short distance
on her own.
