- Description:
- Five Mile Creek is located just
outside of Boise up Rocky Canyon Road. There isn't a whole lot to
say about this hike. I was just taking advantage of the nice
weather we had been having and was attempting to pacify the hiking fever
that had hit. There were certainly a lot of people on Rocky Canyon
Road training for the Robie Creek Run that was coming up, but as soon as
I hit the trail, there was no one to be seen.
- I found this hike in an old
guide called "The Trail Book Boise". I understand that
the book is no longer in print, but I photo copied a few hikes out of it
from a friend. I took the trail up to the prospect or quarry that
is shown on the maps, and then hiked cross country to a small high point
to try and get some views in. Rather than returning the way I came
in, I followed a ridge back out and picked up the trail about a mile
from the trail head.
- Again, not much to brag about,
but it gave me a chance to get out in the foothills not far from Boise.
