- Statistics:
- Date Hiked: May 11, 2002
- Miles Hiked: 9.7
- Elevation Gain: 3,060'
- Hiking Partner(s): None
- Description:
- Lucky Peak is the prominent foothill just east of Boise with the large antenna station on the
top. This particular trail probably sees more bikes than hikers
for a couple of reasons. First of all, it is part of the Ridge to
Rivers trail system in Boise which is predominantly used by bikers and
it is essentially all gravel road to the top.
- I thought this would be a good
work out due to it's length and elevation gain. Most of the hikes
I have been on so far this spring have been relatively short. I
started in southeast Boise and followed the Homestead Trail until it
intersected with the Lucky Peak Trail. From there, you turn north
and follow the road to Lucky Peak at 5,904'. I did do a small
amount of cross country hiking right before the top in order to cut out
some distance.
- Nothing too exhilarating, just
trying to get out a bit as the snow continues to melt in the big
mountains.
- Maps:
- The trailhead is in southeast
Boise for the route I took. The 3D map faces east.
