- Description:
- I was working in Vail for a couple of weeks, and although I didn't
stay the weekend, I decided to get out one evening and hike the ski
area. I basically just started from the Marriott in Lionshead
Village area and hiked to the base of the Eagle Bahn Gondola. I
followed the gondola to Adventure Ridge at 10,350'. You can see
the Gore Range to the north and Mount of the Holy Cross to the
southwest. From the Adventure Ridge Chalet, it was a short ridge
hike on a trail over to Ptarmigan Point at 10,981'. By the time I
hit my high point for the evening, it was dark and I had to pull out my
head lamp to get back down to Vail.
