- Description:
- George, Abby, and I got up early on Monday to throw a few ropes in the
Lower Bridge area. We grabbed some great ice and mixed routes that
we all enjoyed most of the day. George climbed Tic Tac (M7) and
then let me give it a shot. I eventually got up it, but peeled off
a couple of times before reaching the top. The ice routes we chose
next to Tic Tac were a lot of fun too. Before moving downstream,
we all played around on a short, difficult, mixed bouldering route.
We all climbed a couple of new ice routes, and George set up a top rope
on another shorter mixed route nearby. George, Brian, Kevin, and I
all got on the mixed route that ended up between the ice routes we moved
to.
- After a good day of climbing, we all packed up for the rental house.
Unfortunately, the Outlaw steakhouse in Ouray was closed, so we opted to
drive to Ridgeway (CO) to eat at the Doghouse BBQ Bistro. George
and Abby each ordered a standard meal, and Brian made a good call for the
remaining four of us and suggested the "Motherlode Platter". In
case you are wondering, the Motherlode comes with a full rack of ribs, a
whole rotisserie chicken, a half pound of hickory smoked brisket, a half
pound of ore car pork, four sides (beans, fries, mashed potatoes, potato
salad), four soups or salads, and four rolls. I started off
strong, but faded fast. Kevin and Jeff were the next to fall to
the way side while Brian hung on to the end. We didn't quite
finish all the meat, but we put a hurt on it. Without the
appetizers of smoking hot buffalo wings and mini-cheese burgers, I think
we could have done it.
