- Description:
- Instead of fighting ski traffic and driving to Vail (CO), Jeff and I
decided to stay closer to home and check out The Silverplume. The
temps were forecasted to be fairly cold and we weren't sure how the day
was going to turn out anyway so we didn't want to invest a lot of time
into driving and an approach. The Silverplume ended up being a
good call. It was pretty cold, and my first lead resulted in
extremely cold hands regardless of a light grip on the tools.
After dropping the rope and walking off, Jeff sport climbed the same
route and then set up top rope. He cleaned screws as I lowered
him, and then we each made several runs on the left side of the flow.
We moved the top rope to the more difficult right side after another
party left and again made a few more laps. By late morning, we had
actually warmed up some and I was feeling much better than when we first
arrived. I decided to lead the right side before we called it a
day. Although not a great ice day, we had a good time and were
glad to have gotten out. I didn't take too many photos because of
the cold.
