- Description:
- After climbing Dexter Creek Slabs earlier in the morning, we rolled
into the Comfort Inn parking lot to see Matt chomping at the bit to
climb some ice. I jumped into Matt's Jeep with him and we headed
up to the ice park. We set up a top rope in the Alcove on Flamenco
and each made 2 laps on the route. I was surprised at what the ice
park and canyon looked like this year. A sign indicated that New
Funtier had water at the base and many other climbing areas had much
more water running through them than I had ever seen before. I
also thought the ice in many areas was relatively thin and weak compared
to other years I had been to Ouray. Brian and Kevin showed up and
took one quick run on our top rope. Matt climbed out and then
brought me up at which point we called it a day. We retired to the
hotel where we jumped in the hot tub and had a couple of beers. We
ate at Buen Tiempo's and had a night cap at The Outlaw.
