• Description:

  • I had to be back in Highlands Ranch (CO) for my daughters softball games starting at 10:00 am, so any hiking this Saturday was going to need short driving and trail mileage.  Mount Evans seemed to fill these requirements.  Starting from the Summit Lake trailhead, Jeff and I climbed The Snave on Mount Evans, descended the North Face route back to the southwest end of Summit Lake, climbed the Sunrise Couloir to Mount Spalding, and then hiked down Spalding's east ridge back to Summit Lake and our vehicle.  We left Denver (CO) at 2:45 am and started hiking at 4:30 am.  We reached the summit of Mount Evans after 1 hour and 40 minutes.  We reached the summit of Mount Spalding after a total of  3 hours and 35 minutes.  Our car to car time was 4 hours and 10 minutes.  We made it back to Highlands Ranch (CO) at 10:10 am.
