• Description:
  • I was working in Ouray (CO) for the week, so I decided to drive up Yankee Boy Basin and hike Mount Sneffels one evening.  I was able to drive all the way to the upper 4WD trailhead which I arrived at around 5:15 pm.  It took me around an hour to get up and slightly less to get back down.  Hiking a 14er after work was fun.  There was still a small snowfield at the top of the upper gully that required careful footing for approximately 100'.

  • The trail fades shortly up the broad gully to the saddle and you are required to pick your way through the rocks.

  • The snowfield below looks small but required just over 100 steps of sketchy hiking in trail running shoes.
