- Jeff, Kevin, and I got to Vail (CO) around 7:30 am and hiked up to the
Rigid Designator amphitheater to check out the ice before traversing
over to the Spiral Staircase. It was pretty beat out so I was able
to lead the pitch. I set up a top-rope and the three of us took
several laps throughout the morning. Many other parties came and
went throughout the day and we actually ended up climbing next to Jack
Roberts and a client of his for quite a while. Jack was cool to
hang out with. He gave us advice, updated us on ice conditions,
and told a few stories as we chatted all morning. We rode the
alpine slide back to the ski trails and had a seasonal "Fade to Black"
stout from Left Hand Brewing Company before heading home.
