Site Summary &
Description: This website was created to give you the opportunity
to experience some of the views and sights that I have witnessed while
hiking in Idaho and Colorado. Hopefully you will enjoy browsing through some
of the photos, statistics, and descriptions of trips that I have posted.
The trip reports from 1998 to 2001 are primarily in northern Idaho.
From 2001 to 2003, I spent most of my time in the central and eastern
mountains of Idaho. Since 2003, I have lived in the Front Range of
Colorado with hikes and climbs all over the state.
-
I am essentially a
fair weather day hiker with only the occasional backpacking trip.
Because of this, most of the hikes I have done can easily be completed in a
day. I will say that my hiking has definitely evolved over the past 12
years. I started out with short hikes to lakes and low peaks. At
the end 2002, my focus shifted to peak bagging and reaching the summit of
bigger mountains through a combination of hiking and scrambling. I'm
still peak bagging, but in addition to trail hiking and off-trail class 3
scrambling, I have now added many snow climbs and winter hikes to my resume.
In addition, more recent years have found me doing a small amount of easy
technical rock and ice climbing.
-
This website is by no
means an all inclusive guide for locating the hikes, scrambles, and climbs
that I have been on. It is simply a personal journal that organizes my
trip reports in chronological order rather than by location or difficulty.
I give vague directions with intentions of offering only a general overview.
However, specific statistics regarding mileage and elevation gain are
available along with many maps.
- I'll be the first to admit that my
photos don't always do justice to the areas that I have been to. In
addition, by not having to do the work to get to these locations, it may be
even more difficult to fully appreciate them. I'm just warning you
that most of my photos aren't exactly Ansel Adams material. I hope you
enjoy looking at a trip report or two and feel free to contact me with any
questions you might have.
